The North Tour

We start towards Rabil to see the artisanal terracotta production, where clay is extracted from the ground and immediately processed and baked into terracotta/ ceramic souvenirs. We then head to the Viana desert to experience a real white desert of Sahara sand with beautiful ever-changing sand dunes that we plough through in our 4x4s.

There we can go sandboarding and then visit the Spanish shipwreck of the MS Cabo Santa Maria, which ran aground in the surf in 1968 and where spectacular photos can be taken!

The wreck contrasts sharply with the natural beauty of the unspoilt beaches!

We continue our trip to colourful Bofareira, where goat farming provides the local milk and cheese production, before returning to the capital Sal Rei, where we meet the local residents. We will encounter the different facets of society and descend to the harbour where we will visit the fish market with the daily catch of the local fishermen.

Next, we will visit the covered municipal market where all kinds of vegetables, fruit, herbs, local wines and much more are sold to the local population and, of course, to tourists. There will also be time to visit all kinds of smaller shops and boutiques, meet the local wood sculptors and, of course, see the famous paintings and popular ‘sand’ paintings… There will be plenty of time to stroll around and have a drink if you wish.

Afterwards, we will drive back to your accommodation.
