Spotting Turtles

Boa Vista is one of the most important breeding grounds for sea turtles (Caretta Caretta), the third largest species in the world.

The high season for turtles on and around Boa Vista is between June and November.

This is why the sea turtle is the national symbol of Boa Vista and why sea turtles are protected here! There is a whole tourist attraction dedicated to watching the turtles come out of the sea, lay their eggs on designated beaches and return to the ocean.

A few weeks later, the eggs hatch from the sand pits on the beach and the little ones make their way to the sea to swim continuously for the next 48 hours until they are safe and can continue their lives around the island.

We visit the places where the turtles come ashore, where you can see them swimming and where the baby turtles hatch from their eggs.

There are also evening excursions at the end of the breeding season, where we help the baby turtles out of their nesting site and release them into the water. In short, you get to touch the newborns, hold them and put them in their new habitat, the ocean around Boa Vista!

Ada.tours organises these trips with our own 4×4 vehicles and provides you with an unforgettable experience where you can admire these beautiful animals in real life, touch them (in season) and help release them!

A UNIQUE opportunity that you should not miss when visiting Boa Vista!

Once again, you are in the excellent hands of ADA. TOURS for an adventure… NO STRESS!
