SNORKELING, HIKING and BBQ on the Island of Djeu off Sal Rel
Off the bay of Sal Rei lies a small island called DJEU.
On the island are the restored remains of the fort of
the Duke of Braganza, built during the Portuguese
colonial era. It mainly served as a defence against
pirates. The old cannons take you back to the days
of piracy and the privateers who wanted to capture
Boa Vista!
You can take beautiful walks on this unspoilt island to the point where the ruins of the old barracks of the Portuguese army and the lighthouse stand. Sunbathing and snorkelling on the island make for a completely stress-free day, and your guide will of course provide a local BBQ with African rice and herbs with fish, lobster and meat! (Snorkelling equipment is provided).
This trip can also be combined with a morning of FISHING, before returning to shore around noon to enjoy the rest of the day in peace and quiet, surrounded by nature, underwater life and, of course, the sun! The fish you catch yourself will be prepared for you by our team.
